The BBC is opening up some of its most famous buildings for people to see behind the scenes. Tours of Television Centre in Shepherds Bush and the iconic Broadcasting House building in central London are now available. As well as seeing into studios and dressing rooms, visitors will be taken to places not usually seen by the public. A special CBBC Interactive Tour is also available for young children. Television Centre Tour On the award winning tour of BBC Television Centre you will see what happens inside the most famous TV headquarters in the world. You are likely to visit studios, see BBC News in action, go into a dressing room or green room and have a play in the interactive studio. A team of well informed guides will show you around the building, making sure you see the most entertaining areas available. The tour is suitable for anyone over the age of nine years. Tours last between one and two hours and run Monday to Saturday.
Broadcasting House Tour On your tour of Broadcasting House, you'll walk the famous corridors and take a look at some of the fascinating areas that lie within. Guides will take you to places not usually seen by the public, including radio studios, the Council Chamber and a host of other gems that may be available on the day of your visit. There's also a chance to have fun making your own radio drama complete with sound effects. The tour is available for anyone over the age of 12 years. Tours last approximately an hour and a half and run every Sunday.
Children visit the CBBC Prank Patrol Van
CBBC Interactive Tours Children can visit a host of areas at Television Centre while on their CBBC Interactive Tour. The tour may include for instance a visit to the Blue Peter garden, taking part in a special Raven challenge, becoming 'Diddy Dick and Dom' as well as a peek into a dressing room and some of the famous studios within the building. Photo opportunities by some immediately recognisable BBC props may also be available. The tour is aimed at children 7 - 12 years of age and lasts between one and two hours. The tour is not available on a daily basis, so please check the website or speak to the booking line for further details.
