Muslim patients urged not to fast during Ramadan

Health professionals and community leaders in east London are urging Muslims not to risk their lives during Ramadan.

The month of fasting is due to begin on 11 August when Muslims don't eat or drink between sunrise and sunset.

The warning comes as many who are being treated for conditions such as cancer and diabetes are not taking their medication properly and are missing appointments for fear of breaking their fast.

BBC London's Almeena Ahmed reports.
