Tough Love

Introducing... more breakthrough music talent on BBC London.

Tough Love (photo: Nick von)
The band has evolved into a six-piece after emerging from London's burlesque and new cabaret scene

Where are you from?

We're all based in London via Surrey, Birmingham and Leicester.

Names of band members and instruments played?

We've got two drummers, Matt and Jenks; two singers, Tobias and Selina; and two brothers, Mark and Craig, on bass and guitar. We all chip in with our trademark chanting vocals.

How long have you been making music?

Around 18 months.

Style of music and influences?

Our "tribal pop" is made up of African rhythms, English lyrics and guitar-based pop tunes.

Best moment so far?

We're on Gary Crowley's BBC London 94.9 radio show... does it get any better than that?!!

What song would you most like to cover?

We do cheeky versions of Peggy Lee and Bananarama and an even cheekier one of Metallica's Enter Sandman. Mel and Kim are next on the hit list!!!

Visit Tough Love's MySpace, right, for more information. The track that brought them to our attention is the band's debut single, Stress, released on their own label, White Mischief. The band also run occasional club nights under the same name, White Mischief, at 33 Portland Place W1.
