After two weeks the 53rd London Film Festival draws to a close with a gala evening and the highly anticipated first showing of artist Sam Taylor-Wood's debut feature, a biopic of John Lennon's teenage years.
The festival unveiled a programme of over 200 films and bestowed a best film award for the first time in its history.
Visiting talent included actor George Clooney and directors Ang Lee and Joel and Ethan Coen.
But will 2009 be seen as a success?
