After his bejewelled skull and those dead animals preserved in formaldehyde, it's the last thing you'd expect from a Damien Hirst exhibition: a room full of oil paintings.
But that's exactly what his new London show consists of. And he's chosen the Wallace Collection, a gallery that's all about the art of the past rather than the present. So why the change of direction?
Mike Ramsden reports.
No Love Lost, Blue Paintings by Damien Hirst is at the Wallace Collection until 24 January 2010.
