The splendour of India's royal courts goes on display at the Victoria and Albert museum this weekend.
More than 250 artefacts from the 18th to the mid-20th century, including ceremonial swords, designer luggage and a life-sized model elephant adorned with animal jewellery, will be exhibited - many of them on loan to the UK for the first time.
BBC London's arts correspondent Brenda Emmanus takes a closer look, with the help of curator Anna Jackson and student visitors Abhipsa Gupta and Udit Mahajan.
Maharaja at the V&A runs until January 17 2010, visit www.vam.ac.uk for more information.
