BBC London 94.9 marked 1,000 days until the start of London's Paralympic Games with a special broadcast on Thursday 3 December.

The programmes explored the sports, the athletes and the key issues the capital will be facing in the run up to 2012.

The day also marked the UN's International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Paralympians mark 1,000 days until 2012

We spoke to Paralympic legends including double Paralympic gold medallist David Weir and the former Paralympic gold medallist John Cavanagh.

Throughout the day we heard from key figures in the world of disability sport and caught up with a few 2012 Paralympic hopefuls.

We also discussed the wider issues surrounding disability awareness in the capital with the charity Scope and several special guests.
