Digital switchover change begins

Digital Switchover for the North West begins on Wednesday, 4 November

Digital switchover is coming to Merseyside and Cheshire.

On Wednesday 4 November, the BBC Two analogue signal from the Winter Hill transmitter which serves much of Liverpool, Chester and the surrounding area will be turned off.

The move begins Granada region's digital TV switchover, which will be completed on Wednesday 2 December.

Digital UK advisor Bill Howarth will be available at BBC Radio Merseyside's Performance Space to ffer advice from 10am on 4 and 5 November.

There is also special help available for viewers aged 75+ via the Switchover Help Scheme on 0800 408 7654.

The BBC Radio Merseyside Bus will also be out offering advice over four days and with appearances by several presenters.

On Monday, 9 November the BBC Bus will be in Warrington Town Centre, on Tuesday, 10 November in Chapel Street, Southport.

The bus then moves on the The Strand in Bootle on Wednesday, 11 November and to Sainsburys in Rice Lane, Walton on Thursday, 12 November 2009.
