Extraordinary astronomical events will take place in our skies in early January

Stargazing Live is the new BBC project to help us enjoy the night sky and find out "what exactly am I looking at?"

Astronomy experts across the county have organised a series of stargazing events so you can get involved.

Stargazing Live runs in early January 2011, timed to coincide with a number of major astronomical events including a partial eclipse of the sun.

Professor Brian Cox and the comedian Dara O'Briain are hosting the project on BBC TV.
