The story behind a Liverpool icon

The myths and legends surrounding Liverpool's Liver Birds are examined by BBC One's Inside Out.

Actor and comedian Les Dennis has been exploring how the Liver Bird came to be so associated with Liverpool.

From the copper plated birds on top of the Royal Liver Building to the numerous examples around the city the programme looks at the history of the city's emblem.

Inside Out is on BBC One, Mondays at 19:30 BST.

Also in this week's programme, Jacey Normand investigates as series of crane accidents in the north west and Andy Johnson reflects on the legacy of Altrincham health campaigner Pat Morris who risked losing her home as she fought against cuts at her local hospital.
