Lennon film has London premiere
Quarrymen on stage in new film

Trailer for Nowhere Boy

Stars of a new film about John Lennon's early life turned out for the film's premiere at the London Film Festival.

Nowhere Boy, based on a memoir by Lennon's half sister Julia Baird, covers the Beatle's teenage years in Liverpool during the 1950s.

Much of the film was shot on location in Liverpool.

Kristin Scott Thomas, who plays Lennon's Aunt Mimi who brought him up, says the film is "about a boy discovering his talents."

"The Beatles, It was hard to ignore them in Liverpool," says Liverpool born actor David Morrissey, who appears in the film.

"In this period of his life, the formation of the Quarrymen and when George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Lennon all got together, it's a fascinating time."

The film will be first shown in Liverpool on 23 November in a charity premiere at Odeon Liverpool One.
