Boston Children's Theatre group rehearsing The Schoolyard Front
The Schoolyard Front tells the story of the evacuation of children in 1939 and the relationship between the evacuees and the local children in Lincolnshire. The play was specially written for Boston Children's Theatre by two local men, Peter Read and Mick Broadhurst. The authors used the experiences of local people involved in the evacuations during the Second World War. There is also a touch of mystery surrounding the secret of Crows Wood. This new production follows the success of Boston Children's Theatre, which is a drama group for children aged between 8 and 11, at the recent NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) Awards, where they won the East Midlands Youth Production trophy for their play Holka Polka. They will be performing the brand new play on Weds 16 June and Thurs 17 June at 7pm. Tickets are available from Blackfriars Box Office 01205 363108 at a cost of £6.50 and £5.50 (concessions). There will also be a foyer exhibition of World War Two memorabilia by Brian Goddard.
