Taking in the Spires and Steeples

Whether it's a short stroll or a 26 mile hike, the Spires and Steeples trail from Lincoln to Sleaford has something for everyone.

The Spires and Steeples route across North Kesteven was put together to make it easier for visitors and residents to find their way from village to village.

The route takes in the beauty and variety of Lincolnshire's landscapes.

Spires and Steeples also showcases many fascinating art works, from the modern to the more traditional and historical.

The Spires and Steeples route flows from fen land to heaths, via picturesque woodlands and flowing streams as it winds its ways from village to village, church to church.

In Nocton, a beautiful sundial crafted from stainless steel rises up into the sky. Whereas in Dorrington traditional wood carved water features can be found, reflecting the Saxon history of the village.

Throughout the trail, mosaics are a recurring theme. In Branston, the local community has chosen to depict their history through a 20 foot mosaic.

From Prime Ministers to Henry VIII, from World War Two through to Saxon Chieftains, the trail is also bursting with history and anecdotes old and new, local and national, all making the trail a fascinating experience.
