Look North's Simon Spark reports

The retiring Bishop of Lincoln, the Rt Revd Dr John Saxbee, has spent the night sleeping rough to mark the start of Poverty & Homelessness Action Week.

The Sleep Easy event, held in the grounds of Lincoln Cathedral, was organised by the YMCA, and was part of a series of nationwide events to raise awareness of the problems of poverty and homelessness.

More than 65 people slept rough at the Cathedral, including Karl McCartney MP for Lincoln, to raise money and awareness for local groups and charities: Community Larder, Amigos at New Life Church, Be Attitude at St Mary le Wigford and Lincolnshire YMCA.

Official figures suggest that on any one night there are more than 35 people sleeping rough in Lincolnshire - others believe there is a much bigger problem and it's getting worse.
