Parents who are unhappy with the merger of two Lincolnshire schools are invited to attend meetings this week to discuss the plans.
Lincoln Minster Preparatory School and St. Mary's Preparatory School in Lincoln, which both charge around £3,000 a term for day pupils, have said the joining of the schools from September will provide a "seriously special" education for the pupils.
St. Mary's has just celebrated its 60th anniversary and Lincoln Minster was the product of mergers back in 1996.
The new school will be known as St. Mary's Preparatory School - The Preparatory School For Lincoln Minster and continue to use both the current uphill school sites.
Clive Rickart is the Principal of Lincoln Minster School: "I think we're looking to build a school that is a bigger school but will retain that small school mentality where everybody knows everybody else.
"We are looking at the school being a national player in music, in drama, in sport and so, for instance, when we're looking at our national choir of the year Lincoln will be represented by our 11 year olds nationally.
"This school will have huge responsibility for the city of Lincoln and but also will give great opportunities for the children within it's domain.
"It is early days. I think the most important thing is that we communicate fully. That we actually listen to parents, we listen to children also, we listen to staff and we take this forward in a very balanced but positive way."
