Volunteers are being asked to come forward in Lincolnshire, in the Sutton on Sea area, to spend a day away from home to test the county's flood plans.

The exercise is taking place next March, and as part of the project 70 children and staff from Sutton on Sea Primary School will also be evacuated.

The scenario is that sea defences have been breached in the town.

Similar evacuations will take place across the country during Operation Watermark.

Paula Ireland from the Emergency Planning Team at Lincolnshire County Council explains more: "They can volunteer to be evacuated and from Sutton on Sea area they'll be collected by coach at a pre designated pick up point and they'll be taken to an evacuation hub and then taken to a rest centre where they will be fed and looked after until later on in the day."
