Lincolnshire's Red Arrows will be swapping their flying kit for running shoes to take part in the 2010 London Marathon.

The team's participation in the marathon will hopefully raise vital funds for the RAF Association.

The 'Reds Run 4 RAFA' marathon team includes all nine Red Arrow display pilots.

They hope to raise £40,000 to provide help and support for both past and present RAF staff and their families.

The London Marathon takes place on Sunday 25 April 2010, the 26 miles and 385 yard course passes many of London's famous landmarks on the way to the finish line on The Mall alongside St. James's Palace.

Red 1, Squadron Leader Ben Murphy said: "We are extremely proud to be running the Virgin London Marathon to raise money for RAFA. All Red Arrows pilots have served on operations, including Iraq and Afghanistan, and so recognise the vital work and enormous support that RAFA provides for personnel and their families."
