Annie Collett on BBC Introducing
Annie Collett
Annie Collett hopes to perform outside of Lincoln in the future

A women with a keyboard is always going to draw comparisons to acts such as Kate Nash or Regina Specktor.

Fortunately Annie doesn't mind the comparisons, after all, they have influenced her own style of music.

Annie has already written ten of her own songs, including one co-written with Dirty As Muck front-man Jack.

And with an offer of help from the members of local band Dancing Lotus she hopes to record the songs and release her first CD.

Annie Collett

Song writing has been a bit of a hit and miss process for Annie, writing as she puts it: "It comes in waves, sometimes I can write three songs in a row that sound great, sometimes I struggle to write one."

Her achievements to date have been very impressive, especially considering her song writing and live performances at several local venues all in the last four months. As Annie puts it: "This is what I've done in four months, imagine what I can do in a year?

"People keep asking for a CD and I have to keep turning them away, although I do have plans to record with a bit of help from the Dancing Lotus lads who have kindly offered to help me out."

It tends to be at this point that the artist in question talks about their plans to branch out and Annie is no different: "This year I want to develop my music and perform outside of Lincoln." But what does she have in mind? Nottingham, Leeds, Sheffield? Well yes and no: "I'm travelling to America, then I'm going to take some time to work on my music and hopefully people will like what I do."

The future is definitely looking bright for Annie Collett and who knows what she might achieve in the next four months.
