Athletes from across the world have travelled to Loughborough University for an international skipping event.

This is the first year the Rope Skipping World Championships will be hosted on British soil.

The biennial competition, which runs from Tuesday 27 July to Wednesday 4 August 2010, will showcase top adult and junior skipping talent.

Sue Dale, Great Britain Team head coach, said, "It's a little bit more intricate than playground skipping".

Competitors from 18 countries, as far away as Australia, Japan and America, will show off their skipping skills in individual and group heats.
