Newfoundpool's street party for the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977
Find out about the residents who feature in BBC Leicester's series 'The Street'.
Tony Wadsworth has 'adopted' Hawthorne Street in the Newfoundpool area of Leicester - where he grew up, to take a closer look at the lives behind closed doors and the community that is shared.
The Street introduces characters including Dipak Patel - owner of the local convenience store, Mike Haywood - who lives at the 'House of Elvis' and Louise and Paddy Thompson - who have had a child through IVF.
In 1977 the residents of Newfoundpool enjoyed a street party to celebrate the Queen's Silver Jubilee.
Thanks to the support from BBC Leicester, the residents of Hawthorne Street throw another party - 2010 style.
