In pictures: Snapshots of Autumn

Leicestershire photographer Bill Allsopp captured beautiful early autumn scenes across the county. Here is Ashby Canal, Shackerstone just past 07:00 on 21 September 2009.

Swans at Sence Valley Forest Park, Ibstock

'Dawn Flight' captures swans at Sence Valley Park in Ibstock at the end of September. The park used to be an open cast coal mine but has been transformed into a beautiful nature reserve.

Dog walker at Sence Vallery Forest Park, Ibstock

A man walks his dog at Sence Valley Park in Ibstock. The park features extensive tree planting and man-made lakes, interlinked with a series of paths.

'The Catcher' shows light bouncing off a spider-web at Sence Valley Park in Ibstock. The varied habitat of the nature reserve is home to a whole host of wildlife, including at least 150 bird species.

Bill took this photograph at Bradgate Park in October 2009 with Old John to his back. The park features 840 acres of land including grass, rocky outcrops and small woods. It is home to herds of deers and the River Lin.

This image of Old John in Bradgate Park at sunrise was made by stitching three separate shots together. Old John was originally built in 1784 by the Grey family and is now one of Leicestershire's most distinctive landmarks.
