History of a 'ventilated' corset made in Leicestershire

The Leicestershire-made 'ventilated' corset travelled round the world and is one of the objects selected for a BBC history project.

It was designed and made by R&WH Symington of Market Harborough.

The corset from the 1890s was created for Western women, who were travelling to or living in the hot tropical countries of the British Empire.

This object is of 10, picked by Leicestershire Museums, as part of BBC's 'A History of the World' project.
