Leicester Art Walk is a new programme which showcases vibrant, exciting and interesting artwork created by Leicester and Leicestershire based artists on empty shop windows around Leicester City Centre.
Many of the artworks have been inspired by Leicester itself. Crafternoon Tea Club: Our City (No.1 on the map), created by disabled children and young people, represents Leicester's multicultural society and what living here means to them.
Download the Art Walk map from oneleicester.com/artwalk. Explore the city centre and discover all the artworks by following the route. No.2 - Untitled (with squirrels) - Dan Morley was inspired by Leicester's community of independent shops in The Lanes.
Postcards of each of the artworks in Leicester Art Walk is available to pick up from city centre shops, arts venues, museums and libraries. Number three on the map, created by Jareth Preece, is an image of The War Memorial in Leicester's Victoria Park.
No.4 - Leicester Train Station. Tim Fowler's paintings are semi-abstract portraits focusing on architectural subjects in an urban environment. He was inspired by iconic Leicester buildings, capturing the historic design of the station.
No.5 - Our Hands Remember What our Minds Can Forget. Dipak Mistry's photographic work is built on the premise that the memories of a city are in the hands of its people. His work celebrates key moments of life in Leicester revealed through hands.
No.6 - Oliver Seary is a photographer whose images for Leicester Art Walk use the simplicity of a figure to give scale and focus to the surroundings, in this case the parks and green spaces of Leicester.
No.7 - Leicester City Post-It Notes. Greg Evans' themes include lifting objects from the mundane and routine through manipulation and context. This artwork builds on this theme - creating a playful work inspired by Leicester.
No.8 - Leicester - Distilled. Matt Shephard creates clean, structured and often humorous vector illustrations. This artwork is a composition of over 35 elements and takes inspiration from Leicester's eclectic and diverse past and present.
No.9 on the map, created by Tom Cleaver, has been named The Impossible Emporium. The map showing artwork locations is correct at time of going to print. Please check oneleicester.com/artwalk for updates.
No.10 - Highfields. Helen Saunders, through photographic collages, uses the power of photography to transform our everyday surroundings. Here she celebrates Highfields in Leicester. Find out more about local artist at madeinleicestershire.org.uk.
