In pictures: Inspired by nature

Into The Forest is an exhibition of creative work, by local artists, inspired by sites of The National Forest. This swan was painted by DR.

The display is supported by The National Forest and managed by Mantle Arts. The project was designed to boost emotional health and well-being through creative expression. This image was brought to life by RP.

You can see the exhibition at Snibston Discovery Museum in Coalville in Leicestershire. It will run from 17 to 29 October 2009. It is free and open to the public. This image was painted by KM.

The Into The Forest display also features poetry and photographs created by the same group of adults from North-West Leicestershire. This subtle watercolour work of art was produced by KM.

Many of the individuals involved in the art project reported that expressing themselves creatively was highly therapeutic. This picture was painted by JP.

There was a real mixture of abilities amongst the contributors - from beginners to accomplished artists. Painted by JP, this image was created by copying a photograph, which is also part of the exhibition.

All the artists involved succeeded in creating something precious, inspired by photos and natural objects, with guidance from local, established artist Jemma Bagley. This bridge was painted by RP.
