Fighting a War of the Roses again

In the War of the Roses charity boxing event The Yorkshire Regiment took on the Duke of Lancaster's at the Royal Armouries.

Nine bouts were held under Army Boxing Association rules, and Lancashire won.

The £120,000 raised went to Help for Heroes and to the Regimental Associations that support serving and injured soldiers.

One battalion from each regiment is about to be deployed to Afghanistan.

The event also contained a reception and meal, entertainment by a military band quintet and a display by a corps of drums.

The next Wars of the Roses boxing event (again for the Army Benevolent Funds and Help for Heroes) will take place on Saturday 24 April 2010 and be held at Leeds United.
