Leeds College of Music's Unplugged Pop showcase features students, past and present, making music in pop, folk and blues.

The evening will include Bright Young Things winner Rachel Cook, folk duo Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts, blues trio Mojo 57, and duo Pilla.

Current student Liam Kane also gets acoustic with his new trio.

The Showcase is Thursday 12 November, 7.30pm at The Venue, Leeds College of Music.

The bands

Mojo 57

Deep South, porch sittin' blues so authentic you'd never guess the band originates from Leeds. Lead singer Sam Thornton's unearthly vocals sound like they were cut straight to wax, with the Devil on production duties.

Rachel Cook

Bright Young Things 2008 award winning singer/songwriter and her alumni band; best described as upbeat acoustic northern pop: think Lily Allen meets Newton Faulkner with three part harmony and funky Latin-sounding percussion… all atop a shagpile rug!

Gilmore Roberts (Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts)

New Folk and Bright Young Things award-winning duo described by Seth Lakeman as "a fresh and promising young duo right up on the crest of the new acoustic wave". Katriona and Jamie tour extensively, enthralling audiences across the country.

Pilla (Dave Rees & Jen Chapman)

Drawing comparisons to Nick Drake, José González and Damien Rice's duets with Lisa Hannigan, alt-folk boy/girl duo Pilla perform guitar-based music that tugs at the heartstrings.

Liam Kane Trio

Leeds based singer/songwriter and producer, studying popular music composition at Leeds College of Music. Liam is currently recording his self-financed debut album and will debut tracks at the showcase.
