Victoria Holtom as Snow White with the Seven Dwarfs
|
The classic family favourite, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, is this year's panto at the Carriageworks. The story, brought to life by Walt Disney, premiered in 1937 and is now a seasonal favourite. BBC TV and radio presenter Jez Edwards will play the comical jester figure Muddles. Edwards is well-known to viewers from Record Breakers and on radio is one of the presenters on BBC7's Big Toe Radio Show. Meanwhile Jean Rogers, formerly Dolly Skilbeck in Emmerdale, will be vamping it up, playing the part of the evil wicked queen. Local actress, Victoria Holtom was selected from dozens of hopefuls to play Snow White after a tough set of auditions. The cast can look forward to performing on stage at such an intimate venue like the Carriageworks, which will allow them to interact better with the audience - always a vital ingredient of any great panto. The producers are promising the show will be jam-packed with a stunning array of costumes, scenery and amazing special effects, not to mention a great atmosphere. As well as the traditional panto song and dance numbers, this production of Snow White will have plenty of comedy for all age groups and some well-known pop songs have been woven into the story. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will run at
The Carriageworks,
Millennium Square from Friday 4 December 2009 to Saturday 9 January 2010.
