BBC Radio Lancashire is looking forward to a great fireworks night in Lancaster on Saturday 7 November. We've once again teamed up with Lancaster City Council to bring you the atmosphere, noise and music of the Lancaster Fireworks Spectacular. We'll be live in Lancaster as John Gillmore hosts a special radio programme in North Lancashire from 7pm on 104.5FM and 1557AM. Gilly also be playing a rousing soundtrack to accompany the fireworks. The display is sure to go with a bang and takes place against the historic backdrop of Lancaster Priory. It comes at the end of a special day of events to celebrate the centenaries of Lancaster Town Hall and the Ashton Memorial.

City skyscape The BBC Radio Lancashire Roadshow is providing entertainment at Williamson Park from 7pm where you can meet Tim Padfield, Garry Scott and Paul O'Gorman, who'll be broadcasting live. From 8pm you can hear Gilly present his programme live from the castle, and experience the spectacle as the fireworks light up the city skyscape to the magnificent sound of a giant BBC sound system. The event has become so popular, that some people were having difficulty viewing the fireworks last year, so this year the Castle Hill viewing area will be restricted and will close once it has reached capacity or at 7.30pm, whichever is the earliest. Extra official viewing areas will be set up at the Giant Axe field, West Road (next to Lancaster City Football Club) and at the city's Williamson Park. To ensure everyone's safety the public are asked to choose a venue in advance and allow plenty of time to attend! A full programme giving details of all the day's events is available free of charge, from the visitor information centres in Lancaster and Morecambe. Telephone 01524 582394 / 582808 for more details.
