Sean McGinty was born in Blackpool and he is very proud of his town and his roots. He spends most of his free time checking out new music, going to gigs, recording bands, making videos and running a not for profit suite of rehearsal rooms in Blackpool. Fortunately, Sean has an understanding wife and the BBC Introducing programme through which he can attempt to channel all this creativity. "If you've reached the age where you think all young people are hoodies and gangsters," says Sean "then listen on a Thursday night and you'll realise young people all over the county are making music and being creative and not getting drunk and smashing things up!" Sean presents other programmes on BBC Radio Lancashire including Friday Night at Ten which is the only programme on your radio that plays classic and contemporary rock music with such aplomb. It's the perfect accompaniment to a Friday night in on your own with a bottle of plonk and a boil in the bag curry. Outside of the BBC, Sean is passionate about the role social enterprises can play in the regeneration of Blackpool and improving the aspirations, opportunities and health of young people in his home town.
