Edge Hill's jolly roger good show
Moonfleet
Moonfleet is a story of a boy's quest to find lost treasure and his true love

Ahoy! Enter the world of pirates, swashbucklin' and booty this weekend at Edge Hill University's Rose Theatre.

Set on the wild shores of the Dorset coast, Moonfleet is inspired by the classic children's novel of the same name by John Meade Falkner.

It is a story of a boy's quest to find Blackbeard's lost treasure and his one true love.

Expect thrills, spills and yo-ho-hos during this hilarious retelling of Falkner's celebrated tale.

The Angel Exit Theatre production centres around a young orphan John Trenchard and his battles with both smugglers and excise men to track down treasure.

It is told through a combination of live music, striking physical theatre, vivid storytelling and dynamic puppetry.

Will the pirate's hidden diamond ever be his? And will he win the hand of the fair Grace? Only time - and puppetry - will tell.

Sets are made from local driftwood, rope, pebbles and shells, and an evocative sound scape of crashing waves to tell the tale of dastardly deeds and wicked escapades.

It's suitable for pirates and landlubbers alike from the ages of eight to 108.

The performance starts at 3pm on 7 November 2009 at the Rose Theatre, Edge Hill University. Tickets are £4.00. For more information contact the box office on 01695 584480.
