Scouts on the Fylde have unveiled plans for a new headquarters to replace the building destroyed in an arson attack in July.

Hundreds of scouts used the centre's facilities and sleeping accommodation in St Annes every weekend.

As the appeal for £100,000 to replace the centre has reached halfway, the plans have been uncovered for the new headquarters on Heyhouses Lane.

The district commissioner said it will have far better facilities.

Mike Smith explained: "It is an opportunity to build something fit for purpose in the current century.

"The old building was much loved but looking a little tired and old."

He said the replacement will be more resistant to fire and have disabled access and improved shower facilities.

Providing it gets planning permission, the project will be completed in Spring 2012.

There was no one was in the building at the time of the fire.

No one has been charged in connection with the blaze.
