Come along and get involved with our nature themed activities
This summer BBC Breathing Places is joining forces with CBeebies' Green Balloon Club programme to get young people and families to 'do one thing' for nature. Green Balloon Club is part of a strand on the CBeebies channel called EcoBeebies, which is about learning how to take care of our environment. There are loads of free events across the county to interest the little ones. Green Balloon Club week runs from 25 July to 2 August. There'll be lots of fun activities for little kids to big kids - from making ladybird lilos, to bug hotels, nest boxes and face painting. These are just a handful of the free events that our partners including Preston City Council are running... Tuesday 28th July 10am-3pm Animal Magic, Grange Park, Preston Come along and get involved with our nature themed activities and walks around Grange Park. 10am-11am Flower and bugs, explore the Pope Lane Fields Local Nature Reserve and find out what creatures live there. 1pm-2pm Creature Creator, make your own craft dragonfly to take home. 2pm-3pm Batty about Bats, learn about the mysterious flying mammals at our interactive presentation. Wednesday 29th July 10am onwards Birds 'n' Bikes at Frenchwood Recreation Ground, Preston Join one of our park rangers on a guided nature ride through Avenham Park to learn about our feathered friends and other wildlife. This is a great opportunity to get out and active and meet new people, whilst reducing your carbon footprint and therefore doing your bit for nature. Thursday 30th July, 1pm - 3pm, Ashton Park, Preston Green Balloon Club Day Come along to Ashton Park to take part in a 'Green Day'! There will be loads of green activities including bird and butterfly feeders, making homes for wildlife and growing your own flower pot person! Booking is essential for this event. Jelly from CBeebies will also be at our special Green Balloon Club event Philips Park in East Manchester on Sunday 2 August between 12-4pm.
