In pictures: Recycled vintage jewellery
Kat Dibbits is a jewellery designer with a difference - she turns broken and unloved vintage finds into new pieces - it's glamorous recycling!
Kat says: "I take old brooches, earrings, bracelets and small keys and rework them into new one-off pieces."
Kat works as an arts journalist by day and takes inspiration from pictures of theatrical costumes. "The romance of ballet dancers is definitely a big influence, but I write a lot about rock and pop music as well, so there's a bit of a fun, rocky edge too."
Kat says: "With money tight at the moment I think people would rather spend their cash on something they know they won't see anyone else wearing, rather than just the same old high street items."
La Dolce Vita - This is made using a vintage glass chandelier drop. The chain is set with rose quartz and Swarovski crystals
The white parts of these earrings come from another pair of earrings from the first half of the 20th century. Kat says: "They reminded me of clouds, so I teamed them with pink Swarovski pearls and crystals."
"This was originally a vintage pendant with several stones missing. I hand wired Swarovski crystals, rose quartz and freshwater pearls in a garlnd-effect down the side. It's the perfect example of how something can be given a new lease of life."
"These were originally a pair of 1980s enamel earrings. They were very 'power dressing' - I softened them up with Swarovski pearls and 14 ct gold filled chain."
"These earrings date back to the first half of the 20th century. I gave them a romantic new touch using gold fill chain, Swarovski crystals and a rose quartz faceted briolette."
"I used vintage lace to make the rosette and stitched a vintage brooch to the centre of it. I then teamed that with lots of twisted chains and Swarovski pearls and crystals."
