Away from journalism John likes to cook, watch cricket and eat and be merry
John was born a man of Kent but now lives as a Kentish man, or is it the other way round? He was raised in Sidcup and lives near Maidstone. He joined Radio Kent as a sports reporter in 1989, although he believes his job interview was the worse he has ever had for the BBC. "I think they took pity on me and as I knew lots about cricket and the other guy didn't, I got the job," says John. John's first presenting job was a Saturday morning show which had music and chat and it was here that he developed the current affairs phone-in which is now a major part of Breakfast with John and Jules. He has been presenting the Breakfast Show for over fourteen years and early mornings are now so ingrained in him that he even gets up at dawn at the weekends. "I read all the papers daily to make sure I know what's going on in the world, as it's essential to be well briefed." Since January 2009 Julia George has joined John on the Breakfast Show. "Jules is a great co-presenter to work with and the show has really developed with her ideas and input." Away from journalism John likes to cook, watch cricket and generally eat and be merry!
