Kate Humble: Help the UK's bees

Scientists are becoming increasingly concerned about the decline of the UK's bee population.

A third of honeybee colonies were lost last year, but all bees are suffering as a result of habitat loss, disease and bad summers.

On Monday, 17 May 2010, BBC Local Radio launched Bee Part Of It, a project which will help investigate their decline, supported by Springwatch's resident beekeeper Kate Humble.

Springwatch 2010 starts on Monday, 31 May at 8pm on BBC Two, broadcasting from Pensthorpe Nature Reserve in north Norfolk.
