Meet BBC Kent Introducing reporter Sam Darcy

Sam Darcy
Sam was named Best Male Presenter at the National Student TV Awards

Sam has lived in Kent for much of his life and is formerly a pupil of Maidstone schools; St. Simon Stock and Invicta Grammar.

While studying at Invicta, he gained work experience at a local newspaper and then began working at the Maidstone TV studios.

He achieved A, A, B in his A-levels and then moved to the midlands to study English Literature and Language at Loughborough University.

At University Sam was part of the management team for the student media centre, he was also a member of the Student Union Board of Trustees and the head of his year group.

Sam has been a producer in commercial radio and he has also produced a TV News programme targeted at 18-24 year olds. Sam has also won a National Student TV Award for Best Male Presenter.

During his journalistic work, Sam has focused on giving emerging new music, and already established artists within the music industry, exposure through both Radio and TV.

The Soundcasters
The Soundcasters are from Maidstone and Medway

He joins the Introducing team at BBC Kent to generate further music reports throughout the summer; although this time, specifically for Kent musicians.

In his opinion, Little Comets are an act that we should be watching out for in the future and, in terms of local Kent talent, he hopes to see The Soundcasters progress further into the music industry.

If you have an idea for a music story that you would like BBC Kent Introducing to cover this summer, then you can email Sam via the following address: sam.darcy@bbc.co.uk
