Cobbler Fred Moore has run the same shop in Sandgate for 75 years, he has finally decided to retire at 93 years-old.

He has repaired shoes in his shop since he completed his apprenticeship at Vicarry's in Folkestone in 1935.

Fred's mother bought the shop for £250 in the 1920s in preparation for when Fred was ready to start work. The equipment has never been replaced and will be moved to Dover Transport Museum on his retirement.

Sandgate Society have put an exhibition of his life up in the Sandgate library, James Morris Court, Sandgate High Street near Folkestone.
