Kent filmmaker Clio Barnard is nominated for a BAFTA

Filmmaker Clio Barnard from Whitstable is nominated for a BAFTA for her first feature film, The Arbor.

Ms Barnard wrote and directed the film and is now up for the 2011 Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer award.

The Arbor is the true story of the life of Bradford playwright Andrea Dunbar and her daughter Lorraine.

Probably best known as the writer of Rita, Sue and Bob Too!, Dunbar died at the age of 29 when her daughter was 10.
