Why are you standing for Senator?

My years as a Deputy show that I am effective, experienced and positive about Jersey.

We need stability and maturity and a person able to draw support from all sides of the States in order to achieve carefully thought out change towards a fairer society in the next 16 months.

What can you achieve in 18 months?

With a short-term contract and no re-election guarantee, I am focussed on what is realistically achievable in the time frame.

Experience and contacts get proposals passed - anger, blame culture and fault finding don't.

Is ministerial government working?

In some ways yes e.g. speed of decision making, but we need to work towards more openness and trust.

Scrutiny when operated properly can work - see my track record of more than 80 changes mostly accepted. We should reduce the number of States Members.

How far do you think Jersey should support the islands finance industry?

We must support and encourage innovation in all industries. Finance pays the lion's share of essential services and employs the most people.

Maintaining political and fiscal stability is essential to ensure the ongoing presence of major employers and therefore protection of our quality of life.

How should Jersey's housing shortage be addressed?

Jersey is a lovely place and many want to stay here but our countryside cannot be compromised and our coastline must be protected.

We should build on brown field sites, convert unwanted office space in town into homes and build more shared equity 1st time buyer affordable housing.
