Candidates at the nomination meeting for Senator in the States of Jersey
At a special nomination meeting at the St Helier Parish Hall nine people were nominated for the vacant Senatorial seat in the States of Jersey.
Candidates didn't get to speak at the nomination meeting, instead are proposed by a supporter who makes a speech endorsing them for the role.
The meeting was presided over by the Constable of St Ouen, Ken Vibert.
There were about 110 people in the Town Hall including candidates, nominators, media, officials and visitors.
Constable Vibert explained to candidates that they can spend a maximum of £2,500 on their election expenses.
No dates for hustings have been set but islanders will go to the polls on Wednesday 16 June 2010.

Gerard Baudain, Nick Le Cornu, Francis Le Gresley, Philip Maguire, Gino Risoli, Patric Ryan, Geoff Southern, Stuart Syvret and Peter Whorrall.
