A swine flu "outbreak" has been declared in Jersey, following a sharp increase in cases of the H1N1 virus in the islands schools.

In response to this a Tamiflu distribution centre has been set up at Oakfield Sports Centre in St Saviour.

As cases are declared in a school other pupils in the same class are being offered the anti-viral drug.

Due to the increasing number of cases, parents will be encouraged to get the drug from the distribution centre.

The Jersey Health department have announced that parents of children who are in the same class as those diagnosed with the bug would no longer be given anti-viral drugs at schools.

Details of the affected schools will be published as cases occur and we will publish the information on this page.

Parents of children in affected year groups or schools will get a letter from the school offering Tamiflu and telling them how to pick it up.

The distribution centre, on Wellington Road, will be open from 0800 to 1800 GMT every day.
