On board the Westward replica in Jersey

An exact replica of what's being called Jersey's most famous yacht has been in Jersey for the first time.

The Eleonora is very similar to TB Davis's Westward - which was on of the most famous and fastest big class racing boats in the early 20th century.

The flagstaff in Howard Davis Park is one of the Westward's spinnakers.

Jersey maritime journalist Philip Jeune was onboard as the Eleanora arrived and said the people watching at Noirmont was an impressive sight.

Philip said: "I remember seeing a very strange site on Noirmont, it looked like they had grown a new lot of flowers on the top.

"Then I suddenly realised as we approached that it was people in all their different coloured clothing, it looked stunning up there."

You can see pictures of the Eleonora in Jersey taken by BBC Jersey listener Brian Blampied.
