Allotment promotion group set up
working in the garden
The new group will promote the development of allotments

A new group has been set up to help promote the development of allotments in Jersey.

The group is called the Jersey Allotments and Leisure Gardening Association (JALGA).

The Les Creux Allotments Association has been set up to run under the new JALGA group.

It follows recognition of the need to develop allotments locally set out in a report looking at how allotments could work in the island.

JALGA's first project is a field of more than 30 allotments at Les Creux Millenium Park in St Brelade.

It intends to use the St Brelade project as a template for how allotments can be developed in other parts of the island.

People who are interested in having an allotment at Les Creux or the broader issue of having allotments throughout the island will be able to attend a public meeting on the matter soon.
