Big Draw turns green for year two

Islanders are being encouraged to share their eco ideas

Homes that are green at heart are being designed by people across the island for the 2009 Mourant Big Draw.

The Big Draw's goal is to search for the most eco-friendly plan from Jersey's amateur architects.

It's the second year the the event has been held here in Jersey.

Organiser Helen Gray, from Jersey Heritage, says the idea behind the event is to get people to think about green schemes while encouraging people to be creative.

Blank postcards have been sent to the island's schools, clubs and libraries, with entrants encouraged to fill them in with their designs.

You need to collect a postcard from any of the Jersey Heritage sites and then use any medium, including digital images, to show how you think the environment impacts your home.

"Last year we had the theme, my home, and participants were invited to draw what was special about their home Jersey.

"This year we have extended the theme into my Green Home to see how people interpret how the environment impacts on their home," said Emma Pallot of the organising group.

All entries will go on show at the Jersey Museum next year and the closing date is Friday 1 January 2010.
