Could a UFO have been spotted in St Ouen?

A sighting of a UFO at St Ouen is detailed in files relating to extra-terrestrial activity that have been released by the Ministry of Defence.

The MoD has published files on UFO sightings in Britain from 1981 to 1996.

The sighting in Jersey was in August 1993 by a woman staying at the Summer Lodge Campsite in St Ouen.

She was woken by a strange noise followed by a pink light and sent a letter to Jersey Airport saying that she was convinced it was a UFO.

"I find it very hard to describe the noise - a sort of bubbling, squelching sound... I am convinced it was a UFO," the woman said in the letter she sent to the airport.

The letter was passed on to the Ministry of Defence by the Airport's Air Traffic Control officers.

Air Traffic Control in Jersey said no planes were in the area at the time and questioned whether the light could have been a torch.

"As a matter of conjecture the only explanation which seems logical is that an animal was near your tent and that the light which shone on your tent might have been somebody else investigating the same noise," the reply explained.
