ARTS & CULTURE

Doodlebugs and Decorations

A theatrical evening on the theme of Winter in Wartime. A combination of readings and dramatisations, both comic and serious.

The evening also features the world premiere of Epiphany written by Richard Avery, formerly of the Royal Shakespeare Company. The play deals with the lives of air raid fire-watchers during the Blitz.

Carols by Candlelight

Date: Friday 18th December
Time: 19:00
Venue: Beverley Minster
Price: Adults £10

An evening of carols and seasonal music by candlelight with the Melsa Consort in the Gothic splendour of Beverley Minster. Seasonal refreshments included in the ticket price.



NATURE & OUTDOORS

Christmas at Burton Agnes Hall

Date: until 22 December
Time: 11:00 - 17:00
Venue: Burton Agnes Hall
Price: Adults £7.00, Children £3.50

Santa in his Grotto

This Elizabethan stately home has a festive feel. The halls are decorated with plants and material taken from the gardens. There is a seasonal Farmer's Market and gift shop.

Also, a chance to visit Santa in his Grotto - at extra cost.

Rail tour

Date: Saturday 19th December
Time: 11:00 - 14:00
Venue: Corus Steelworks, Scunthorpe
Price: Free (must book through Brigg Tourist Office - 01652 657053)

A chance to take a look around the huge iron and steel making facility. The tour is on a brake van on the plant's rail track.
