Hello, and welcome along to another look at what's happening in the world of contemporary religious music and media.

Now, who was it said that Facebook was a waste of time?

A couple of months ago a whole bunch of Delirious? fans started talking about how great it would be if this Easter there could be a song up there in the charts that raised the flag for faith in Jesus.

They asked us to help out, and right now the charts are buzzing with the sight of HistoryMaker heading up there. So far (as I write) HistoryMaker - the single is up at number 6 in the charts, and who knows where it'll be by the time we're at Easter Saturday? Delirious? will be donating their profits from the UK single downloads to Compassionart projects that bring relief from poverty where it is needed most.

Pete James, The Worship director at St Thomas' Church Philadelphia, Sheffield, will launch his new album on 23rd May. The launch gig will be held at the Philadelphia campus. The album was produced by Paul Burton and features many songs currently in use at St Thomas'.

Christian music makers get ready for Easter.

Sonic Flood, Michelle Tumes, Christine Dente and Susan Ashton; the list of artists who have recorded their own versions of Lara Martin's songs goes on and on. Formerly worship leader at Bradford's Abundant Life Church, Lara's songs have impacted Christians the world over, bringing hope and inspiration to many.

Kingsway is proud to announce the release of The Best of Lara Martin, a double CD that celebrates a remarkable journey, one that keeps on getting better. Having started out as the receptionist at Bradford's Abundant Life Church, Lara's constant singing and joyful outlook were easily noticed.

Eventually she was offered the role of worship leader. From there, the songs and the ministry grew rapidly. "My journey is a simple story. I was faithful with little, so God entrusted me with more. I didn't grumble or complain about being in the background. I served God wholeheartedly wherever I was because I knew my character was under construction and God was shaping me for the future - this was my training ground!" This twenty-eight track double CD contains her best known songs - 'Divine Exchange', 'God Is Here' and 'Joined By Angels' - and highlights just how passionate and gifted a singer and songwriter Lara is.

It was nice to hear that Sheffield based, Phillipa Hanna has released a single through iTunes with all royalties to go to Haiti relief administered by the Compassion Emergency Aid Fund. Philippa told Cross Rhythms how she and Grammy Award winning songwriter Eliot Kennedy had come to write the song "Ave To Love". "Eliot came up with some beautiful lyrics and the next thing I knew I put the song in my set for my tour of the UK."

Faith Evans, Yolanda Adams and 2010 Grammy Award winner, Donnie McClurkin, have been announced as part of the huge line-up for Oraclez World Gospel Festival & Awards 2010 taking place at Wembley Arena on Bank Holiday Monday 3rd May.

Set to rival last year's successful Oraclez event, a stellar line up of established and brand new gospel talent has been put together by organisers to represent the broad spectrum of the scene.

News from my old friends, Hull husband and wife team, Living Hope, will be jetting off to America in June to join up with music minister J Brian Hill for some concerts and preaching engagements. It's three and a half years since they first visited Illinois and Helen and Robin Thompson are thrilled to be able to return.

This year's Ultimate Christian music event at the Alton Towers theme park, is set to take place on Saturday 8th May 2010.

The lineup for this year is Manchester rock worship aggregation Audacious, urban gospel collection LZ7, rock hip-hop iconoclasts thebandwithnoname, Afro R&B group Four Kornerz, singer/songwriter Philippa Hanna, Fierce! recording artists [dweeb] and speaker Reggie Dabbs.
