Ash busk with Bentham

Tim from Ash and Howard Bentham
"In the land where I was born, lived a man who sailed to sea."

Tim Wheeler from Ash visited BBC Hereford & Worcester, ahead of a gig he was playing with Ash. at the University of Worcester.

He was more than happy to take a few minutes out of a busy day for an impromptu busking session with Howard.

The decided to have a crack at the Beatle's classic Yellow Submarine, with Howard on guitar, and Tim on vocal.

Buskers

Sam won a Best Buskers competition two years running

Some of the buskers who've volunteered so far are:

  • Robin Shaw: I play harmonica and hope to be able to get some time off work to play on Friday 20th at Maylords.
  • Sam the sax man: "Myself and Laura Broad, as The Lady & The Sax, have street performed for the Kidderminster Arts Festival again this year and went on to win the 2009 Best Buskers Competition, as we did in 2008. I have also been busking with different vocalists all summer on the Waters Edge Bandstand, Brindley Place, Birmingham, so you could say I am an experienced busker."
  • Tom the multi-instrumentalist: "My name is Tom, and I would be interested in joining your team of buskers. I play the guitar, banjo and clarinet."
  • Simon Griffiths: "I can't claim to be in the same league as my idols Freddie Mercury and Tony Hadley, I'm prepared to give it a go and help out a very worthy cause."
  • Mike Johns: "I would be pleased to assist for Children In Need."
  • Kelvin Green: plays the guitar, bass and mandocello (from the mandolin family).
  • Rose Kibble: "My son Billy would like to join your team of buskers. He is only 10 so I can not let him out on the streets on a school day so he is going to busk at school."

  • Bridstow Primary School, near Ross On Wye, will join in the busking.
  • Miranda Gallimore: "I haven't busked (guitar and singing) since my gap year 10 years ago, when I busked my way round Ireland, but I'd love to give it a go again if I could be of any use? Love the idea of it and great cause too!"
  • Dan: "I'm interested in busking outside Maylords on the 20th November. I was just wondering what time it is expected to go on for, because I'm in college until 3:30. I'd love to come and play, especially as my band (Church & Destroy) are appearing on the Friday Session later that day."
  • Children in Need

The charity aims to make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Do something different to raise money for BBC Children in Need

Every year, thanks to public donations and the amazing efforts of fundraisers, schools, businesses and corporate partners, the BBC is able to provide support to thousands of youngsters aged 18 and under.

Every penny that is given to the charity goes towards projects helping disadvantaged children in the UK.

This promise can be made by the BBC because the charity uses its investment income and Gift Aid to cover all running costs.
