There's lots of entertainment in the run-up to the lights being switched on

The official switching-on of the Christmas lights in Kidderminster is on Saturday 28 November.

BBC Hereford & Worcester's Howard Bentham is Master of Ceremonies in the run up to the lights going on at 1630 GMT.

The ceremony will include a nativity play and live music from local girl band Sinergie.

The event will start at 1330 GMT outside the Town Hall in Kidderminster.

Timetable

All timings are approximate and may be subject to change.

  • 1330 - 1400: BBC Hereford & Worcester's Howard Bentham entertains the crowd.
  • 1400 - 1420: Sinergie, live on stage.
  • 1420 - 1430: More from BBC Hereford & Worcester's Howard Bentham.
  • 1430 - 1445: Nativity readings at Trinity church, with a collection towards their appeal.
  • 1445 - 1500: More from BBC Hereford & Worcester's Howard Bentham.
  • 1500 - 1530: Time Trip - a band playing music from the '60s and '70s.
  • 1530 - 1545: More from BBC Hereford & Worcester's Howard Bentham.
  • 1545 - 1555: St Georges choir sing a selection of carols.
  • 1555 - 1600: Prize giving for a 'design a Christmas card' competition run by the Kidderminster Shuttle .
  • 1600 - 1630: Time Trip - a band playing music from the '60s and '70s.
  • 1630: Count down & switch on.
