Christmas lights
The lights are going on at the Guildhall and Crowngate

The official switch-on of the Christmas lights in Worcester is on Thursday 12 November 2009 - and BBC Hereford & Worcester is at the event.

Breakfast presenter Howard Bentham is Master of Ceremonies at the Guildhall from 1630 GMT - the Mayor switches the lights on at 1740 GMT.

BBC H&W's Andrew Easton is on stage at the Crowngate Shopping centre from 1700 GMT.

The mayor will switch the lights on there at 1815 GMT.

GUILDHALL

  • 1630: Howard Bentham introduces the Samba Santas.
  • 1645: Carol West sings two songs.
  • 1700: Howard's Bits and Pieces game.
  • 1710: JJ perform two songs.
  • 1720: Mayor's processes through a Guard of Honour of children from Lyppard Grange Primary School.
    Charlie Green sings three songs.
  • 1740: Countdown to official switch-on of the lights, by the Mayor and Charlie Green.

CROWNGATE

  • 1700: Andrew Easton begins live entertainment.
  • 1710: Carol West sings two songs.
  • 1735: JJ perform two songs.
  • 1745: The Mayor and party processes from The Guildhall to Crowngate, via High Street, Bull Entry, Bell Square, Broad Street and Angel Place.
  • 1800: Charlie Green sings
  • 1810: Competition winner joins Howard and Andrew on stage for the official countdown.
  • 1815: The lights are switched on.
